Technique #1: Washing
-Washing is used to add depth to your miniatures, and to fill in the little crevases. Let me be the first to tell you that it seriously improves how the mini looks. First, make sure that you have the area painted. Then, take your paintbrush and dip it into water. Make sure you don't dry it off. Then, take the wet paintbrush and dip it into the color(the color should be darker than the color that was painted on. Example: if you painted the area light green, then use a darker shade for washing). This works only when using acrylics. The water on the brush should give the paint a more watery consistency. Now just brush it onto the area. You should notice the paint running into the cracks. If it is too watery or if it has the same consistency still, clean it off, and try again. It may take several times to get it right. It should give it a slight shadow effect(if I'm not mistaken) and make it look much better....
